Pamela?

Yes, Jessica?

Do you think Akranes will go down?

Honey, everyone goes down for the right price!

Pamela?

Yes, Jessica?

Why do people jump up and down and wave when the camera picks them out at the World Cup?

Well clearly, the football games themselves are not interesting enough, that people are reduced to watching the big screens to see if a picture of themselves will appear.

Pamela?

Yes, Jessica?

What do you make of the World Cup round of 16?

Let's see. Germany play Sweden today. I hope the Swedes win it for my friend Jessica.

Oh, thank you! You want them to win just for me??

No, Jessica. I meant Jessica Silvstedt. That's her on the right.
She's Swedish. Anyway I am not too hopeful as the Germans seem to be improving.

Yeah, and that Torsten Frings is hot!

Moving on... Argentina play Mexico this evening. That's a certain win for Argentina which sets up an intriguing meeting between them and probably Germany in the quarter-finals.
Then tomorrow we have England vs. Ecuador, England should win comfortably.

Yeah, and that Peter Crouch is hot!

Yes, Jessica. Whatever. But now for what I feel is the fixture of the round: Portugal vs. Holland. That one is just too close to call. The winner will face England in another close tie.

Uh-huh...

Then on Monday, Italy will beat Australia and Ukraine will beat Switzerland, setting up a mouth-watering encounter in the next round.

Yeah, and that Schevchenko is hot!

So you say. Finally, Brazil will beat Ghana (but not easily) and Spain will trounce France, which means Spain will be knocked out in the quarter-finals by Brazil.

Can gambling become addictive?

Picture this if you will: a slot machine with a hypodermic needle attached, allowing the user to buy playing time by donating a pint of blood.

Pamela?

Yes, Jessica?

Is global warming a problem?

Well, Jessica, take the arctic tern. It's a migratory bird that spends its summers in Iceland but migrates to the southern hemisphere for winter. It is now facing possible extinction because a type of small pilchard that it relies on to feed its young has moved further north due to rising sea temperatures.

Pamela?

Yes, Jessica?

What about whaling?

Tough call, sweetie pie, but I've got to go for a pro-whaling attitude on this one. If only for the fact that humankind should be eating more fish. It's good for the brain. And the less whales, the more fish for humans.

Pamela?

Yes, Jessica?

Do you think Iceland should join the European union?

I'm not sure, girl. Poland joined recently and what has that brought to the world? Prince Polo chocolate with nuts. Because import tariffs on nuts have been abolished in Poland.

When a car accident happens, who is to blame?

That's always a hard one to call. Like for instance, last night I was about to get out of a taxi and when I opened the rear passenger door another car came down the road and hit the door as it opened. The driver of that car was obviously going too fast for such a narrow road and seemed slightly intoxicated. The taxi driver was operating without a license, just filling in for a friend for an hour. But obviously, I was the one that caused the accident by opening the door. But who was really to blame?

Pamela?

Yes, Jessica?

Do you have an opinion on abortion?

Geez, Jessica, when you get deep you really get deep. Of course it's accepted that abortion can be justified in certain cases but one can't ignore the fact that a life is being ended. A life that could have been, could have had a future, dreams, friends... even a family. Personally I think abortions are a symptom of what I choose to call "excessive living standards" in today's society. If a doctor can remove a tumor, unwanted fat, even a silicon implant that was over the top (not mentioning any names, hee hee) then why shouldn't he remove a foetus? Except that's a far more serious issue, in my view. It's one of the big moral questions that we as humans should be asking ourselves. It's unfortunate that it's an easy question to overlook because nobody sees the foetus apart from the doctor. The mother is knocked out and probably hasn't bothered to look at an ultrasound image. I think abortion would be much less common if we weren't mammals. Who would pay a doctor to get rid of an egg?

Pamela?

Yes, Jessica?

What are your views on the Euro?

Well, hard to say. But more and more European nations are adopting it. Slovenia have just signed on and Lithuania are probably next. It becomes a matter of how long is it viable to carry on with a small currency like the Icelandic Króna.

Pamela?

Yes, Jessica?

How do you feel about the new dam being built in east Iceland?

Well, Jessica, it's difficult to say. On the one hand it's economically crucial to the country's immediate future, but taking a longer view there is massive environmental damage, so I can't really say...
